note writing skills

Many people write notes every day in their work, detailing incidents, investigations, accidents, conversations, happenings etc. These notes often play a crucial role at very initial stages of a case and/or when a witness is relying on them when giving evidence in Court. Notes are written at the time of the "happening" and lawyers and Judges pay great attention to what is recorded in these notes. The note writer is generally the key witness in legal proceedings and will often be examined at length on their notes, what is recorded in them, how they are recorded etc.

Unfortunately it is often a simple error or oversight in notes that can lead to great difficulties. In the past litigation has come to an abrupt end due to inadequate notes.
